My dream of being a chef!

You know I really like cooking, and when I grow up I dream of being a chef! So far, I have created my very own Lemon Bundt Cake recipe (Milk, Eggs, Lemon Juice, Lemon Zest, Flour, Sugar, Butter, and Brown Sugar) with powdered sugar and a lemon icing (Lemon Juice and Powdered Sugar). It tastes great and I dream of making many more glorious foods and drinks that taste just as good or even better! I even watch the food channel studying how and what they cook. If someday my dream is realized, I hope that I could open my own restaurant and serve many delicous foods and drinks to all of my customers. Untill then, I'll just have to settle with serving them to my family.

To be a chef you have to be passionate about what you do. Chefs work grueling hours, in heat, under constant pressure from the rest of the restaurant. The money is not very attractive unless you are able to open your own restaurant...which takes years of experience before you should even attempt....and even then the success rate is abyssmal. If you LOVE cooking and have a PASSION for it, it's worth doing. If you are wondering if it pays well... for the most part it doesn't, but that is not always true. A "Masters Degree" in cooking takes about 10 years to get and with it you can make up to $150,000 a year! That is, if you work for the right company... which is hard to find. If your right out of school with minimum experience, your looking at about 10 dollars an hour. Entry level Chef 30-35K, entry level Executive Chef = 40-50K yr.
